Being "Scent"sationally Happy

After four months my sense of smell is finally returning.(If you ever find your sense of smell or taste diminishing try a zinc supplement). That's why I'm so excited about C-16's 3 new fragrances: "Fire Me Up", "Make Me Wonder" and "Make Me Smile". When the demo bottles arrived I asked my "Lead Demo Tester", Miss Lee, to try them out and decide which one would suit each of usthe best. Without knowing Lee's selections, Jill and I sampled the fragrances and picked the one we liked best. Jill liked "Fire Me Up". I loved "Make Me Wonder" and Lee was partial to "Make Me Smile". Guess what? Lee was correct 100% with her initial picks. It was kind of amazing how the names, colors and fragrances of our favorites matched our personalities too. Jill is always "Fired Up" on the go, taking care of business and making things happen. It's not hard to "Make Lee Smile". I've always said that she giggles at air! With her dry wit though she really "Makes Me Laugh"! And me? I'm always wondering (where'd I leave my glasses, who will be next to join my Avon team, what day is it?) or wandering (to find a good coffee shop, a great craft store and the best people to join my Avon team) and full of wonder at God's awesome creation (gorgeous sunsets, fabulous flowers and multifaceted human beings). Bob says that I always make him wonder but I believe that he just thinks I'm wonderful (most of the time) and A Wonder (all of the time)!
Page 2 of the C-16 brochure has a "scratch and sniff" for each scent but it doesn't really do them justice. I will have samples and I'll be carrying the full size demo bottles this week so be sure to try them out and let me know your favorite.

Happy Heros: July 12th would have been my Mom's 73rd birthday. It's hard to believe she's been gone almost 3 years and I still miss her almost every day. I inherited my olfactory sensitivity from her. Like me she could sniff out something going rotten in the fridge without even opening the door! But she loved good smells and filled our young lives with the smell of baking bread and other great cooking and canning smells. She planted daffodils, mock orange bushes and old fashioned roses: some of the sweetest smelling flowers on earth. She would draw our attention to the scent of newly mown hay, a freshly plowed field or sheets brought in off the line. Wrapped in towels that were "Downy" fresh she would tell us how good we smelled after our Ivory Soap baths.! Good Smells, Good Memories! Thanks, Mom!

Happy Birthday USA!!!

Lee and I went out for a day of Mother-Daughter bonding today. We both got hair cuts at EQ on Broadway in C. Bluffs and then much to Bob's chagrin went to Claire's at the Mall and got a second set of earrings pierced into our ear lobes!! At both places we were served by very capable young women. Erica at EQ is only 17 but she was very competent, personable and fun! I met her on my anniversary at Red Lobster where she was the hostess.(hardworking and ambitious too!) I was impressed with her then because she was quick, energetic and had initiative. Today while I was getting my hair cut I found out that she was homeschooled. (This will have a point and it will have to do with Independence Day). That explained a lot to me as she had many of the same characteristics that I see in my own and other homeschooled children. Independent, self-motivated, confident, competent, creative, energetic, goal-oriented, happy.....not the typical sulking, surly, bored teenager.
On the way home from our excursion we heard an interview on the radio in which the gal was talking about getting choked up at sporting events when she heard the national anthem. (I do too!) With all the negativity flying around about the election , the economy , the war in Iraq , the high price of gas and health care.... well, it's hard to keep feeling good about life in the old U.S. of A. So that got me thinking about how keep a positive attitude about my country in today's negative climate. One of the quickest ways to turn a negative attitude around is through gratitude. I hope you will join me this week in making a list of all the things you have to be grateful for because you are a citizen of The United States of America. On the top of my list is that we have the right to homeschool our children and that no matter what our educational background we have libraries and other educational resources so that at any age we can learn anything we want. Knowledge is potential power----It only becomes power when you use it!

If you can't afford the Clinical Micro-dermabrasion of the Retexturizing Peel try the new Micro-Exfoliating Cleansing Cushions pg72. One side of the pad exfoliates and the other side cleans and conditions. I liked them a lot. A quick and easy facial ... used a couple times a week will keep your skin clear and bright and a box can last about 2 months. The Happy News Vol. 2 Issue 26

The Happy News is...  Recognition is great!!! Last Friday I had the to opportunity to
participate in my 3rd President's Club Recognition Luncheon.  You can see  my President's
Club jewelry and Mrs. Albee figurine on my website at:

The food and the company were great and Avon provided fabulous door prizes for drawings which many
from our district were lucky enough to win including our very own Maxine Guerra who is on my team!!!
Maxine also won the Avon Rising Star award for our district.  She made President's Club in 11 campaigns
(it takes most of us 20-26) and she has a good start on developing a team of her own.  I'm very proud to
know Maxine. If you would like to meet her too, she's at the 72nd Street Flea Market (the old Rod Kush
Furniture building) most weekends.  It was a very nice day for all of us but one thing made it extra special
for me!! I received the Spirit of Avon Award for our District.  This is a special award to someone chosen by
the District Sales Manager.  This is what it says on the certificate that I received along with my Spirit of
Avon Statue.  “The Spirit of Avon award is an award given from the heart. The heart of a Manager and the
heart of Avon. Although it is often hard to choose just one recipient because there are so many special
Representatives, one person's incredible spirit stands out above the rest.  Not necessarily because of sales
or high dollar increase, or even for recruiting excellence, but because of an attitude of giving, sharing and
selflessness.  This person gives of herself continually.  She builds her own business by professionally and
courteously serving her customers.  She also cares and shares with other Representatives, as well as all
who have the privilege of crossing her path.  She is a friend; she is a teacher; she is a blessing. She is the
Spirit of Avon.”  

All I can say is “it's easy to exemplify the Spirit of Avon when you have the best Avon “friends” and
customers like I do!!!! “
